Remo Stars’ coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, has taken to social media to express his joy after his team’s impressive 2-1 victory against Bayelsa United in a recent Nigeria Premier Football League match at the Samson Siasia Stadium.
The game, which took place in Yenagoa, was a thrilling showdown.
Expectations were high for Bayelsa United, playing on their home turf, as they aimed to recover from their earlier 2-0 loss to Doma United.
Remo Stars, too, had a score to settle following a defeat to Rivers United in Port Harcourt.
The game took an unexpected turn when Bayelsa United’s goalkeeper was sent off for handling the ball outside the penalty area, giving Remo Stars a numerical advantage.
They capitalized on this opportunity, with Adams Olamilekan scoring the opening goal after just four minutes of play, courtesy of Samuel Anakwe’s assist. Later, Sikiri Alimi extended the lead in the 78th minute.
Although Ekeson Okorie managed to reduce the deficit for Bayelsa United shortly before the end of regular time, the home team suffered their second consecutive loss.
Overjoyed by the team’s performance, the Remo Stars coach expressed his gratitude on social media, saying,
“Thrilled by the team’s performance in Yenagoa as we secured our first away victory of the season. Sincere gratitude to everyone for your support.”
With this win, Remo Stars climbed to the 4th place in the league, while Bayelsa United dropped to 13th place.
Looking forward, Coach Daniel and his team are gearing up to host Sporting Lagos at the Remo Stars stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State, on Sunday.
The fans can’t wait to see if the team’s winning streak continues.
