Enugu Rangers chief coach Suleman Alli has heaped praises on his team following their recent performance after earning bragging rights over Niger Tornadoes during their Nigeria Premier League game on Sunday.
Two first-half goals from Odoh Joel and Godwin Obaje secured Rangers International F.C their second win of the 2023/2024 NPFL season, with a final score of 2-1.
In the 16th minute, Joel Odoh, Rangers’ right-back, headed in a free kick from Kazeem Ogunleye for the opening goal.
Godwin Obaje added a second goal in the 43rd minute, skillfully assisted by Chidiebere Nwobodo, delighting the fans at Awka City Stadium.
Niger Tornadoes made a strong comeback in the second half, with Bashir Usman scoring in the 54th minute. However, it wasn’t enough to earn a point.
Both teams’ defenses and goalkeepers remained vigilant, preventing further goals till the final whistle.
Shortly after the game, Coach Suleman Alli in a chat with the club’s website expressed his gratitude for the hard-earned victory and the team’s continuous efforts to improve their skills and teamwork.
“It was a tough match against an excellent side and we thank God for giving us the three points at stake and we hope to keep working on the team till we get it right,” he said.
The coach added that;
“Hopefully, the dream team we clamor for in our next game would have emerged.”
With this win, Rangers now have six points from three matches,
