The People’s Elephant, are taking it upon themselves to drill their players with rigorous preparations for the upcoming CAF Champions League preliminary round clash against Al Ahly Benghazi on August 19.
In a recent interview, Enyimba’s forward, Awazie Ekene, shed light on the team’s intense training regimen and shared his thoughts on the challenges and aspirations that lie ahead.
The past week has witnessed Enyimba’s players push themselves to the limits during grueling training sessions.
Ekene emphasized the intensity of their preparations, acknowledging that the road ahead won’t be easy, but the entire squad is united in their determination to achieve success and make a lasting mark on the continental stage.
Speaking candidly, Ekene stated;
“Well it has not been easy because we are having our first match in less than two weeks which is in the CAF Champions League preliminary round against Al Ahly Benghazi.”
The arduous journey to secure a spot in the CAF Champions League has brought the team closer together as they strive to fine-tune their skills and strategies.
“We’re really working tirelessly to achieve our goal and to remain in the continent, because I believe this is the only time we can work together as a team through this pre season preparation,” Ekene affirmed.
Excitement is palpable amongst players of the nine times NPFL champions as they continue their pre-season training.
The team’s dedication and hard work will play out in a friendly match against Akwa United at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Wednesday.
