In a candid interaction with fans on X (formerly Twitter), Bayelsa United’s star striker, Robert Mizo, opened up about his roots, career, 30 goals dream, and aspirations under the hashtag #RobertMizo9.
Hailing from Imiringi Town in the Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa, Robert Mizo proudly shared his beginnings, emphasizing his deep connection to the region.
When asked about the best footballer he has ever played with, Mizo didn’t hesitate to name-drop Alex Oyowah of Rivers United, who is currently the top scorer for the Port Harcourt outfit.
As for his targets in the ongoing Nigeria Premier League (NPFL) season, Mizo, who has already netted over six goals in nine league games, revealed an unrelenting ambition.
“I scored 9 goals and ended up as the second-highest goal scorer last season. I’m hoping to do even better for my team. Number of goals? Maybe 30,” he boldly proclaimed.
The question and answer session also delved into his challenges as a professional footballer, particularly hailing from Bayelsa State, where environmental factors and sponsorship challenges loom large.
Yet, Mizo remained undeterred, vowing to improve every facet of his football career.
When quizzed about his football idol, the 23-year-old forward unequivocally declared Cristiano Ronaldo as his GOAT (Greatest of All Time), showcasing his admiration for the Portuguese superstar.
Currently, Robert-mizo Christian is the leading scorer in the Nigeria Premier League, with six goals to his name for Bayelsa United in nine league matches.
However, despite his impressive form, Bayelsa United finds themselves languishing at the 19th spot in the NPFL table, with just two wins and five losses.
The Prosperity Boys will look to their prolific forward as they aim to reverse their fortunes when they face Heartland of Owerri in their next fixture on Saturday.
Robert Mizo’s goal-scoring prowess will surely be instrumental in Bayelsa United’s quest for a higher league position and their journey towards NPFL success.
As the season unfolds, fans can look forward to witnessing this young talent chase his ambitious target of 30 goals, while he remains determinated to elevate every aspect of his game.
