The former Arsenal midfielder, who embarked on a new chapter in his career after agreeing a move to Grupo Desportivo de Chaves, is currently enjoying life with the Portuguese Primeira Liga outfit.

The Super Eagles star, who made a return to the Portuguese league after previously flying the colours of Porto B during the 2018–2019 campaign, inspired his side to their first victory in five games.

Having lost three games in a row and drawn one on the road, the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup Golden Ball winner, Nwakali, was instrumental in Chaves 2-1 home win over Vizela on Friday evening.

Although the 25-year-old midfielder, who featured for 89 minutes, failed to register any goals or assists, he still managed to produce two shots during the game.

The visiting hdhdhd broke the deadlock barely 12 minutes into the encounter through Samuel Essende, who combined well with Matias Lacava to find the back of the net.

Héctor Hernández then converted a penalty 18 minutes later to level the scores before Jo turned the game around when he handed the hosts the lead with his 48th-minute goal, which proved to be the winner that sealed the crucial three points.

Nwakali, who couldn’t contain the joy of a victory and five unsuccessful outings, took to his X page (formerly Twitter) to say,

“3 points, man of the match. Best way to say happy new month We move.”

In Liga Portugal this season, the Nigerian star has featured in 12 matches for Grupo Desportivo de Chaves, registering just two assists to his name.

Looking ahead, the Super Eagles midfielder will join forces with his teammates as they look set to visit Estoril on Sunday, December 10, after moving up the table to 15th place with 10 points.
