Sporting Lagos coach Paul Offor has explained why Lobi Stars lead the NPFL table after the narrow 1-0 loss to the Makurdi Boys over the weekend.
In a challenging match at Lafia City Stadium, NPFL newcomers Sporting Lagos faced their third defeat of the season against league leaders Lobi Stars
Despite Sporting Lagos goalie Christian Nwoke facing so many attacks, Lobi Stars still managed to secure victory when centre-back Sunday Chinedu connected with Orji Kalu’s corner kick in the 29th minute.
The Noisy Lagosians showed resilience, with substitute Godwin Udoh consistently challenging Lobi Stars’ goalie, but without success.
Coach Paul Offor acknowledged Lobi Stars’ qualities, stating,
“We saw the qualities of Lobi Stars, and that’s why they are on top of the league.”
Although Sporting Lagos fell to 9th place with 11 points after the defeat, they continue the pursuit of their first away victory in the NPFL.
The next match, scheduled for Sunday, November 19, at Onikan Stadium, sees Sporting Lagos hosting former NPFL winners Heartland of Owerri.
