After a thrilling clash in the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, Akwa United head coach, Fatai Osho, has lauded his team’s impeccable preparation as they battled Bendel Insurance to a goalless draw on matchday five.
Coach Fatai Osho, speaking exclusively to the club’s media, commended his squad’s diligent analysis of Bendel Insurance’s playing style.
Their thorough preparation enabled them to thwart Bendel Insurance’s offensive efforts and create opportunities of their own.
He showered praise on his players for executing his tactical game plan flawlessly, resulting in a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Bendel Insurance last Saturday.
Before the game, Osho and his team were under immense pressure, having failed to secure a win in their first four matches of the season.
This game was a crucial morale booster for them, and they did not disappoint, displaying a brilliant performance to earn their first away point this season.
The goalless draw was a fair reflection of both teams’ efforts, as they each had their moments but couldn’t breach the opposing defense.
“They still have the same coach and maintain the same playing philosophy, so we came prepared with the knowledge of the team and we told our players what to do to slow them down while looking for the chance to hit them offensively,” Fatai said.
Despite the draw, Akwa United remains at the bottom of the NPFL table. However, they are determined to capitalize on this result when they welcome Gombe United for their next match on Wednesday.
