More Delays Hit 2023/24 NPFL Season Kickoff as Sponsorship Issues Arise

The kickoff for the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season has officially been temporarily suspended.

This decision was formally conveyed through a letter bearing the signature of Davidson Owumi, the Chief Operating Officer of the NPFL, addressed to the Chairmen and General Managers of all NPFL Clubs.

It says that due to urgent worries over the league’s sponsorship, the season’s scheduled kickoff for 2023–24 has been postponed.

Obviously, the much-anticipated flag-off game, which was initially scheduled for Saturday, September 9, will no long go as intended.

The letter, emanating from the Board of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), unveiled the unfortunate news.

It reads;

The Board of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) wish to inform you that the scheduled kickoff for the 2023/24 season has been put on hold and a new date will be communicated to you. This is due to the exigencies connected to the sponsorship of the League. Note therefore that there will be no flag-off game this Saturday, September 9 as originally planned. This is for your information and necessary action please.

Fans, clubs, and football lovers across the nation are eagerly awaiting further communication from the NPFL regarding the rescheduled kickoff date.

The league’s authorities are expected to provide an update on this matter in due course.
