During Matchday one opening game at the Ikenne Stadium in Kogi State, Remo Stars showed their resilience by rallying from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against The Afonja Warriors.

Kwara United initially took the lead in the first half, but Remo Stars made a strong comeback in the second half.

The opening minutes were closely contested, but it was Ikenna Offor who found the net in the 42nd minute, giving the Harmony boys the lead.

Offor’s goal was a result of a fine cross from Musa Abdulafeez down the right, and his towering header left Remo Stars trailing at the end of the first half.

After the break, the Sky Blue Stars were determined to find a goal, and they succeeded when Alimi Sikiru coolly struck the ball inside the area, leveling the score 1-1 in the 57th minute.

Both teams fought hard, but the game ended in a draw as neither side managed to score again.

Following an impressive performance, Kwara United defender Musa Abdulafeez was named the Man of the Match and awarded a prize of N100,000 courtesy of Optimus Bank.

His standout performance made him the first player to win the MOTM award in the ValueJetCup23 Group A first match.
