The match revealed Doma United’s unyielding spirit as they secured a 1-0 triumph over Kano Pillars, marking the longest unbeaten streak witnessed in this season’s NPFL.
Emmanuel Ekpeyong’s crucial goal in the 13th minute sealed the win.
While speaking to the media after the game, Coach Onigbinde emphasized on the team’s focus on grabbing three crucial points.
“We came back from Ilorin, where we played goalless with Kwara United, and our intention was to make sure we had the three points because, as you can see, there was fatigue in the players.”
Despite missing opportunities, including a penalty chance in the initial half, the coach lauded his players for their stellar performance, acknowledging the importance of securing the win and achieving their objectives.
Speaking of the clash against Kano Pillars, Coach Akinade highlighted their opponent’s formidable footballing prowess, stating,
“We know that Kano Pillars is a very good team; they play very good football, and we know they can break into your defence at any time, so that’s why I told my defenders to be tactically disciplined in the defence line.”
An outstanding feat to note is Doma United’s solid defense, maintaining a clean sheet for an impressive since their last concession against 3SC, spanning an incredible 42 days.
Their stronghold at home adds to their impressive season statistics.
The hard-earned victory against Kano Pillars propelled the Savannah Tigers to the top of the NPFL table, accumulating 25 points from 13 games.
