Bayelsa United recently experienced a harsh reality check as they faced the reigning NPFL Champions, Enyimba, in a preseason friendly clash at the Samson Siasia Sports Stadium.
The result, a resounding 4-1 victory for Enyimba, left fans in disbelief at the sheer dominance displayed by the Peoples Elephant.
Taking to their social media account, Bayelsa United expressed their disappointment while maintaining a positive outlook.
They emphasized that this encounter was just part of their preseason preparations and not the desired result, but they see it as an opportunity for growth.
In a post on their social media platform, Bayelsa United wrote;
“Bayelsa United FC 1:4 Enyimba FC, not the result we wanted but it’s a pre-season friendly, and there are positives to take into the new season.”
Enyimba, on the other hand, demonstrated their readiness for the upcoming NPFL campaign, highlighting why they are the reigning champions.
This friendly was a crucial part of their preparation for the African Football League, where the two-time CAF champions League winner will be battling Wydad Casablanca from Morocco.
Enyimba’s encounter with the Moroccan side promises to be an exciting spectacle, with the first leg set to take place at Godswil Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on October 20.
