Despite suffering a narrow 2-1 defeat to Kwara United on Wednesday, Sporting Lagos head coach Paul Offor has expressed his satisfaction with his players’ performance and resilience.
The Tech Boys took the lead just a minute into the game through Jonathan Alukwu, but Kwara United equalized from the penalty spot through Ejeh Isaiah before Ifeanyi Egwim secured a late victory for the home side.
This was the second time this season that Sporting Lagos has failed to secure an away win, but Offor is looking at the positives.
“I like the fact that we are going away and we are scoring goals,” Offor said in his post-match interview. “We showed our performance in the game. Our game is all about the fans. We are excited they came out to support us in Ilorin.”
Offor is particularly pleased that his players are finally finding the net on the road.
Sporting Lagos have only managed to score twice in their three away games this season, but Offor believes that his players have gained confidence in scoring away from home.
“That’s the most important thing for me,” Offor said. “If we can score away from home, we can win games away from home.”
The defeat to Kwara United saw Sporting Lagos slip to ninth in the league table, but Offor is confident that his team can bounce back in their next game against Kano Pillars at home.
“We will go back and work hard,” Offor said. “We will try to correct our mistakes and come back stronger in the next game.”
