Super Eagles goalkeeper Victor Sochima has officially announced his departure from Rivers United, kissing the club goodbye in a farewell message on Monday.
“It’s Time to Move On,” the 25-year-old goalkeeper wrote on his social media page after a three-year spell with the Port Harcourt-based team, finally shutting down the curtain in PH City for a new life elsewhere, elegbetetv reports.
Following the expiration of his contract at the end of the season, the goalkeeper becomes a free agent.
He turned down a contract renewal offer from the Pride of Rivers. Victor Sochima joins Echeta and Kazie on the list of players leaving Rivers United this summer.
The former Heartland FC star joined Rivers United in August 2021 after spending a season with the Jigawa Golden Stars.
In his farewell message, the Super Eagles shotstopper said,
“I needed wings to fly, and you provided. It’s a splendid time in the blue and white colours, restoring the club to history with a trophy and flying the country’s flag on the continent. I will cherish every moment. Thank you, rivers united.”
However, Elegbetetv understands that NPFL champions Enugu Rangers, Enyimba, and some foreign clubs have made contact with the player’s camp.
Rangers are looking to add quality to their team ahead of their CAF Champions League campaign.
It’s rumoured that Bendel Insurance goalkeeper Amas Obasogie will replace him at Rivers.
