Super Eagles new man, Victor Boniface, continues to announce himself in a bigger stage of football after scoring a screamer to help Bayer Leverkusen secure a huge win over Qarabag during their Europa League game on Thursday night.
The Nigerian international found the back of the net in what seems to be his 10th goal of the season to help the Bundesliga side seal off a 5-1 win against Qarabag at the BayArena.
Florian Wirtz opened the scoring for Bayer Leverkusen barely 4 minutes into the encounter.
Qarabag fought back as Toral Bayramov converted a penalty in the 16th minute.
But Bayer Leverkusen regained the lead with Γlex Grimaldo’s goal in the 29th minute, and Victor Boniface added to their tally in the 35th minute with a stunning strike from outside the 18-yard box.
Grimaldo wasn’t done and scored again in the 54th minute, before Edmond Tapsoba sealed the victory with a goal in the 57th minute, capping a dominant performance.
With the victory, Bayer Leverkusen continues their dominance at the top of Group H with nine points after three wins from three games, while their visitors, despite the defeat, remain in second place with six points.
Looking ahead, Victor Boniface, who now has over three goals in the Europa League, and his teammates will be hosting Freiburg SC in the Bundesliga on Sunday as they look to continue their stunning form at the top of the table.
