Nigeria’s Super Falcons midfield sensation, Christy Ucheibe, has taken to her social media platform to share her jubilation as Benfica triumphed over Sporting Lisbon to lift the Super Cup.
The 22-year-old Midfielder finds herself over the moon as she clinches her first trophy of the season.
Ucheibe’s prowess was on full display as she played an important role in Benfica’s victory over Sporting Lisbon in the Super Cup final.
The Super Falcons star showcased her skills from the start in the Supertaca de Portugal de Futebol Feminino final, representing Benfica against Sporting Lisbon.
In a closely contested match, the first half remained goalless. However, in the 55th minute, Francisca Nazareth scored the crucial goal, giving Benfica the lead.
Sporting Lisbon’s Andrea Norheim then leveled the score 18 minutes later, forcing the game into extra time.
Despite the additional 30 minutes, no further goals were scored, leading the match to be decided by a penalty shootout.
Sporting Lisbon struggled with their spot kicks, failing to convert any, while Benfica confidently netted all three penalties, clinching the Super Cup.
Ucheibe’s outstanding performance earned her a place in the starting lineup, where she showcased what she’s made of all through the game and even additional 30 minutes of extra time.
On her social media platform, she expressed her gratitude, saying;
