In a heartbreaking match on Friday against Borac in the Bosnia Premier League, 20-year-old Nigerian striker Saliman Kayode left a blazing impact for his club, FK Zvijeda 09, in their away defeat.
Despite a tough 4-2 loss away from home against Borac Banja Luka, this Nigerian rising star still managed to shine brightly for his club, FK Zvijeda 09.
Kayode made his presence felt in the game, but despite doubling his team’s lead, they allowed the 2-0 lead slip, only to suffer a 4-2 defeat at the Banja Luka City Stadium.
Petar Karaklaji broke the deadlock for FK Zvijeda 29 minutes into the game, before Kayode Seliman doubled the lead 10 minutes later.
From there on, the home team switched the game around, with Jakov Blagai pulling one back just a minute before the interval. The Croatian didn’t stop there; he restored parity for his team eight minutes later.
A quick-fire goal from Milan Makari saw the home team take a 3-2 lead before José Cortés sealed the victory and all three points in the 67th minute of the game.
The final whistle saw the Nigerian forward and his team end the game in a 4-2 defeat, their second league defeat in a row, leaving them at the summit of the table with just three points from six games.
Recall that Kayode scored his first goal for the club last Sunday during a 5-3 away loss against Zrinjski.
Starting the game on Friday and scoring to give his side a 2-1 lead in the 38th minute, Saliman Kayode has now netted three goals and provided three assists in his last three games.
