Kano Pillars FC captain and Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) legend Rabiu Ali reached another significant milestone in his illustrious career during his team’s match against Plateau United over the weekend.
The veteran midfielder netted his 10th goal of the season in this match, making it the seventh time in his career that he has scored double-digit goals in the NPFL, Elegbetetv reports.
This goal brought his contribution to the Pillars’ NPFL campaign to 16 goals, with six assists and ten goals this season.
During the match at the Jos International Stadium on Saturday, Kano Pillars initially took the lead, but Plateau United managed to equalize, with the game finishing in 1-1 draw.
The first half of the match ended without any goals, keeping the spectators in suspense for the second half.
Seventeen minutes after the break, Rabiu Ali scored to give Kano Pillars the lead. However, Plateau United quickly equalised two minutes later with a goal from Paul Dayop, ensuring both teams shared the points.
This draw left Rabiu Ali and his teammates close to the relegation zone, with 49 points and one match remaining in the season.
Kano Pillars are set to face Lobi Stars in their final match of the season, with the Sunday clash at the General Sani Abacha Stadium expected to be thrilling.
There is speculation that this could be Rabiu Ali’s final game after 14 years in the Nigerian Premier League.
