Bundesliga club, Bayer Leverkusen, recently announced the signing of Nigerian striker Victor Boniface on a five-year contract, securing his position at the BayArena outfit until June 30, 2028.
The 22-year-old talent made the decision to join Bayer Leverkusen despite high interest from various European clubs, including Everton, which was reported to be in the best position to secure the striker.
Boniface’s one-season stint with Belgian team Royale Union SG was nothing short of remarkable.
Guided by Karel Geraerts, he finished as the joint-leading scorer in the Europa League while contributing significantly to the club’s fairy-tale path in the Jupiler Pro League.
Throughout the season, the young striker demonstrated what he’s made of by being involved in an impressive 34 goals (22 goals and 12 assists) in 55 appearances, combining his time at both Bodo/Glimt and Royale Union SG.
The decision to sign a permanent deal with Bayer Leverkusen was motivated by a special opportunity that Victor Boniface simply couldn’t resist.

While speaking to the German club media upon signing his five-year contract, Boniface admitted wholeheartedly that he has;
“Already experienced the atmosphere here at the stadium and back then was able to assess the possibilities at this club. After our talks now, I know: This is a top club with a brilliant team. I’m really looking forward to playing football here and want to play my part in the future success of Bayer 04.”
Despite the allure of other top clubs in Europe vying for his signature, Boniface chose Bayer Leverkusen under the mentorship of Xabi Alonso.
