They say sports can take you places. For me, that has become more than just a saying; it’s the mantra that has shaped my journey in sports journalism.

So, as I begin this writing journey on elegbetetv.com, it feels only right to start with the tournament that took me somewhere unforgettable: Morocco, the host of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

To borrow a famous line from Jay-Z: “Allow me to reintroduce myself.” While some of you may already know me from our social media platforms and YouTube channel, this is my chance to tell my story in my own words.

My name is Joy Ojeabulu, and I’ll be taking you on many adventures through the world of sports, beginning with the tournament that took me to the land of the Atlas Mountains in 2025; the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The 13th edition, held in July 2025 and officially branded ‘WAFCON 2024’, remains one of the defining moments of my career. It was my first time covering a continental football tournament, and I couldn’t have asked for a more memorable introduction. Watching Nigeria come from behind to win a historic 10th continental title was a privilege I’ll never forget.

Now, with the 14th edition just days away, it feels like the perfect time to pick up my pen once again. This time, I want to share not just the action on the pitch but also the stories, experiences, and moments that make WAFCON one of African football’s greatest spectacles.

And I won’t disappear after the final whistle on August 16, 2026.

This is just the beginning.
