Inter Milan and Napoli recorded big wins and AC Milan failed to start the season with successive wins as the Italian Serie A continued with matchday two over the weekend.
Reigning champions AC Milan held Atalanta to a 1-1 draw at Gewiss Stadium on Sunday night.
Ruslan Malinovskyi gave Atalanta the lead in the 29th minute but Ismaël Bennacer levelled matters in the 68th minute but both sides could not find the winner as they settled for a share of the spoils.
Simone Inzaghi’s Inter Milan made it back-to-back wins to start the season as they recorded a 3-0 win against Spezia at San Siro.
Lautaro Martínez linked up well with Romelu Lukaku to give Inter the lead in the 35th minute and a cool finish from Hakan Çalhanoglu on 52 minutes doubled their lead.
Joaquín Correa wrapped up the win with a goal, eight minutes from time.
Napoli made it two wins in two as they recorded another big win, defeating Monza 4-0 at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
A double from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia coupled with a fine finish from Victor Osimhen and a header from new signing Min-jae Kim helped Luciano Spalletti’s side to amass maximum points while also scoring nine goals and conceding two in their first two games of the season.
Bologna and Hellas Verona played out a one-all draw at the Renato Dall’Ara on Sunday night.
Verona pegged back through Thomas Henry’s 43rd minute goal after Marko Arnautovic put Bologna ahead with a goal on 21 minutes.
Domenico Berardi’s 39th minute goal helped Sassuolo to a 1-0 triumph over Lecce at Mapei Stadium on Saturday.
Three games failed to record any goals as Empoli and Fiorentina played out a stalemate including Udinese and Salernitana and the game involving Torino and Lazio.
Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma and Massimiliano Allegri’s Juventus will be in action on Monday as they take on Cremonese and Sampdoria respectively.
