The Confederation of African Football, CAF on Tuesday afternoon in Cairo released the draws for next season’s TOTAL Energies CAF interclub competition preliminary round stages.
Moroccan side, Wydad Athletic Club are the reigning champions of the TOTAL Energies CAF Champions League, CAFCL, having edged Al Ahly to the trophy.
For The TOTAL Energies CAF Confederations Cup, CAFCC, another Moroccan side RS Berkane edged out Olisa Ndah’s Orlando Pirates In Uyo, Nigeria.
For Nigerian teams In the CAFCL, The Champions of the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, Rivers United were drawn against Watanga FC of Liberia, for the first round and would face defending Champions Wydad Athletic club for a place in the group stages in the second round if they progress.
Plateau United, who finished 2nd in the league would face AS stade mandji of Gabon in the first round, and would come up against Esperance of Tunisia for a place in the group stages in the second round if progress is made.
For Nigeria’s CAFCC representatives, Remo Stars who finished 3rd, would be making their first ever appearance at this stage, and they have been drawn against Morocco Military club Association Sports Forces of Armed Royal, ASFAR, in the first preliminary round and would face either of AAGBS of Guinea and Nouakchott CS of Mauritania for a group stage phase if they make progress.
Kwara Utd’s 4th placed finish have drawn them against As Douanes of Niger, in the first preliminary round and would come up against Rs Berkane who are Defending champions for the group stages, if they progress.
